I, Daksh Bangoria, am nominating myself for the Academic Committee with a vision to improve the academic experience and address challenges faced by students in our institute.
I am standing to be elected because I would like to ensure that the views of all students from all faculties and years are represented. As a fresher, I believe I bring an impartial perspective to university matters and can help improve the compatibility of the university with the Academic Committee, ensuring that decision-making truly reflects student needs.
One of the pressing issues is timetable clashes, particularly during elective selection. For example, students of Software Systems face a clash between electives like Optimization and core courses like Advanced Algorithms. I strongly believe such conflicts can and must be resolved through better scheduling.
Additionally, while the university brochure lists many elective courses, only a limited number are actually offered. I will work towards ensuring that more electives are opened up, giving students greater academic freedom.
Another important step is to allow at least one lecture/demo session before elective registration, so that students can make informed choices. Similarly, timetable clashes in Teaching Assistantships (TA) and labs need immediate attention.
As well as this, I will endeavour to create opportunities for you to share your concerns—because you know best what you want to change. I would be honoured to represent you during the coming year and make a positive impact on your academic journey.
