I am interested in being a part of the Student Placement Cell because I believe that the collective effort of a well-organized and hard-working team can truly change the course of an individual’s life by helping them unlock their full potential and bringing organizations that are the best fit for their skill sets. As a student of this college, I have witnessed first-hand the zeal and talent students studying here hold, and it would give me great joy to aid those who worked hard to get into this college and are working harder to make it to the top by giving their all, a good chance at probably what would be their first step towards a secure future.
Having worked for an educational company as a tutor, I am well-versed with the structural hierarchy of a company and recruitment processes. Additionally, my volunteer contributions require me to approach companies for CSR activities and coordinate with their HR teams. I hope to contribute my learnings from these experiences for the greater good of our student community.
As for some of the new initiatives I would like to bring in, I believe the SPC’s approach should be to make sure that the individuals passing out of our college are industry-ready. To achieve that, SPC should coordinate with our Alumni Cell and bring in professionals who have walked out of these very doors and share what they had done and changed in order to establish a strong foothold in the industry. Secondly, I believe that the SPC should also support those students who decide not to participate in the placement drive and would like to pursue a Master’s Degree. Though not considered the role of SPC since it is not about placement, along with others, it could organize sessions about GATE and CAT preparations, which will surely be beneficial to anyone who wishes to study further. And lastly, concerns about cheating during PPTs have been raised. Since this can decrease the standards of our outgoing batches, SPC should hold more strictly proctored exams. A strong solution would be to conduct the tests in the computer labs, where the SPC can create a setup where cheating would not be possible. This is important so that students get an idea of where they stand and what skills they need to work upon to make the cut.
All in all, I believe my leadership and communication skills, along with my experiences and will to work hard would help other students, not just to get placements, but to pass out as a well-rounded individual.
