Standing for Student Placement Cell
Why I chose SPC?
Because I want to invest my time in something meaningful. What can be better than helping students get better career opportunities and ensuring everyone is well-prepared for placements?
Issues and Initiatives:
• Very few students get summer internships:
The main purpose of internships is to provide corporate experience to students. If top-tier companies are limited, I suggest inviting medium-scale startups and emerging companies to campus. Even if their pay grade is modest, they can provide valuable hands-on experience and learning opportunities for students.
• Students with good technical skills struggle to get jobs due to a lack of communication skills:
Many capable students miss opportunities because they don’t know what the interviewer wants from them. I suggest organising guidance workshops with faculty and seniors on interview skills, communication, CV building, and confidence-building.
• Placement statistics on the placement website are often outdated:
Placement data reflects the excellence of our college. I suggest regularly updating the website and organising separate placement data for every program to make it easily accessible.
• Some companies don’t even provide a reason after rejecting candidates:
Without proper feedback, candidates are unable to understand their mistakes and improve. I suggest making it mandatory for companies to provide brief feedback or at least a reason so students can improve their weaknesses and build confidence for future opportunities.
