Academic Committee

After two years in the Academic Committee, I am choosing to continue with them. Over the last two years, I have seen various reforms being implemented, be it the change in elective seat allocation, exhaustive revision of the co-curricular policy and incentivization, successfully collecting and conveying student feedback in the curriculum review, or the start of a new normal to meet the Dean and Director monthly, to discuss about various academic issues. However, there are still several problems that remain, and I would like to continue this year, serving, not in an executive capacity, but rather, in an advisory capacity, to ensure I guide the committee and things that are currently undertaken are completed smoothly.

  Agendas

01
Continuity of Ongoing Reforms
This past year, we worked on fixing student-admin communication gaps and proposing to processes like the Rural Internship so they run smoothly. These reforms are still underway, and I want to ensure they get implemented.

02
Integration of Newer Programs
With newer programs being introduced at the institute, I want to ensure those students are integrated smoothly.

03
Infrastructure & Academic Environment
The Lab PCs are outdated, and the Wi-Fi disconnects all the time. I will keep pushing for these upgrades. We have seen these seeing the light of the day last year, and are hoping that something comes out of that this year.

04
Elephant(s) in the Room
Participation is decreasing (or is it?). Student Faculty Interaction is decreasing (or is it?). Students are studying more and getting lesser grades (or are they?). Some questions that need to be addressed and answered. We need to collect a lot of data, contact a lot of people from various colleges and contact alumni. We need to work with Clubs, Faculties as well as the Placement Cell to ensure that students are having the absolute best time at the campus (not just having fun, but participating in activities, building projects, learning new things!). I believe this is a high time these questions are answered, and we gain clarity in the decreasing (is it?) interactions campus-wide.
