Election Commission DAU

The Election Commission ("the EC") is an independent and autonomous body, constituted by a set of students, responsible for organizing and conducting periodic, free and fair elections of the student representatives to be a part of the DAU Student Body Government ("the SBG") as and when it is required to do so. The Election Commission is mentored by and reports directly to the Dean (Students).

Composition of the Election Commission

Election Commissioners

The EC shall consist of four (4) Election Commissioners.

• One student representative from each participating Undergraduate (UG) batch
• One collective representative from the Postgraduate (PG) batches.

The senior-most Election Commissioner, determined first by experience in the EC and thereafter by batch seniority, shall serve as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Election Officers

Additional members to the EC, can be appointed to the EC, in the capacity of Election Officers.

Election Officers shall assist the Election Commissioners in the discharge of their functions, including but not limited to the conduct of elections, and shall monitor compliance with the Code of Conduct, reporting any violations to the Election Commissioners for appropriate action.

The EC shall have total powers as far as the conduct of the elections are concerned. This shall include the disqualification of candidates from contesting, of voters from voting, and even the interpretation of the constitution of EC. All decisions of the Election Commission will be final and binding on the student(s) concerned.
